Interview in Weekly Reader Current Health

Here’s an image (click thumbnail for larger image) from the interview I did with Weekly Reader’s Current Health Teens about action sports and safety.  The full article touches on the rise in popularity in action sports but also about the rise in injuries occurring in teens participating in these sports.  There has been lots of talks about helmets and if they should be mandatory at ski/snowboard mountains, competitions, and parks in general.  Even more since last year when Olympic medal hopeful Kevin Pearce suffered a massive brain injury that without a helmet would have left him dead.  (ESPN just did a big article about brain injuries in action sports as well)

I was happy to be able to contribute to this piece they did and do think it is a very important topic that needs to be address with some of the younger kids.  More and more professionals seem to be encouraging helmet use which is a good thing.  Take a look and let me know what you think of the interview.  And a big thanks to Nicole at Weekly Reader for including me on this.
