Over on the Road 2 Recovery website there is an update regarding Ian Trettel after sustaining head injuries at Daytona Supercross practice on March 5, 2011. There have been bracelets put up over on the Vurbmoto.com website where you can pick it up for $5.00 and 100% of the proceeds are going to Ian to help with his recovery and rehab. Pick one up online or if you are heading to a Supercross race, stop at the R2R booth and grad one there.
One of the Non-Profits that HEAL supports is the Road 2 Recovery. Â R2R works to help motocross and supercross athletes after they have suffered major injuries from riding. Â They have helped a huge number of riders and continues to do so today. Â There are many HEALÂ t shirts and other apparel that HEAL sells which donate a portion of the sale to R2R and all of our Doug Henry signature shirts go to the R2R as well.
Road 2 Recovery was founded after Jimmy Button crashed at a supercross event in 2000 leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Â Jimmy Button with the help of a few others created what we have today of the Road 2 Recovery. Â He stepped up to help out fellow riders that have became injured doing the sports they love and trying to provide for their families. Â Jimmy and the rest of the Road 2 Recovery are amazing people doing some great things for riders in need.
For $5 a ticket (given out online) you get a shot at winning this insane bike done up in by S&M Bikes and Profile. Go to S&M Bikes website for your chance to win and more info on the specs of this bike. It’s all for a great cause in helping out the Athlete Recovery Fund!
On Feb. 20, 2011 Jimmy Button will depart from San Diego, CA and head out to Daytona Beach FL. Â Why such a big deal? Â Jimmy will be riding a road bike. Â And not only is he riding a road bike across the country Jimmy had become paralyzed in 2000 while practicing for the San Diego Supercross race that year from the neck down. Â Some thought Jimmy may never walk again never-mind ride a bike across the country.
Jimmy’s Miles for Miracles is in efforts to raise $1 Million for spinal cord research. Â He is one of the very few that have been able to overcome such a huge injury and is taking is heart and determination that got him walking again to help raise money to help others that are in the position he is in or was in. Â There is something special that is inside many action sport athletes with a will and determination to overcome any obstacle in their way. Â Unfortunately it is something many athletes are becoming more and more familiar with in dealing with spinal cord injuries.
The Buttons are an amazing family with Jimmy and his parents starting up the Road 2 Recovery after his accident to help provide support to other MX/SX riders that suffer major injuries in the sport. Â They haven’t stopped there and I’m sure that M4M is just one more step the Buttons are taking to help make progress with SCI research.
Best of luck to Jimmy and his trainer Cory who will accompany him on his entire ride. Â You can help by making a donation or even join up on a day to ride with the group when they come through your area. Â Make sure you check out Miles for Miracles and see how Jimmy is doing on his mission or how you can help. Â Below is a video done by Sette Bikes who is sponsoring Jimmy’s ride and did a great background video on M4M.

It is finally here!!! The video of Doug Henry riding again. After becoming paralyzed from the waist down in a supermoto accident Doug has built a bike with the help of many friends and sponsors for him to be able to ride again. Pictures were posted a few months ago of Doug riding and now we have a full video of him riding his motocross bike as well as his snowmobile. The cage on the bike is to help if he were to crash since he is strapped into and onto the bike.
