HEAL Seen in New “Get in the Van” Video

NO FOOLIN from Joe Carter on Vimeo.

Not too long ago I sent the guys at Get in the Van some HEAL t shirts and other apparel. They are a great group of guys that document the action sports scene and how they live their lives either chasing waves, fresh powder, and other amazing parts of their days.

Recently Joe Carter put up a new video titled “No Foolin” and at the 3:04 mark you can see them wearing the HEAL beanie on the way to catch some waves the day after boarding on a great fresh powder.  Great quick little video again by Joe and a glimpse into the life of Get in the Van.

Thanks Guys!

DARK SIDE OF THE LENS from Astray Films on Vimeo.

Absolutely stunning and captivating short story of the life and passion of a surf photographer.

Last Line of Defense

LAST LINE OF DEFENSE from Joe Carter on Vimeo.

Here is a great quick video/story by Joe Carter of some surfers going out during a hurricane to ride the waves only to be threatened to get arrested and harassed by the lifeguards and police.  What happens after they all leave is the reason why they should let the surfers that know how to surf out during these conditions.  Check it out.

Guinness World Record for Longest Surf Session

26 hours in the water and 147 waves caught.  I don’t think I could sit in the water that long.  The hardest part must of been the 13 hours of darkness and not being able to see the waves too well to try to catch them so time must of went by slower.

Andy Irons Memorial Kauai

Very touching and emotional memorial for one of the best surfers ever in the world.  RIP Andy Irons.

CT Surfrider Foundation and HEAL in Making Waves

HEAL got a mention in the Oct issue of Making Waves which is the Surfrider Foundation publication.  Along with the CT Chapter of Surfrider they mentioned HEAL for helping with the Rockin the Sound event held at Bar in New Haven earlier this year.  There is also a good picture of a couple of the CT chapter members with Jack Johnson at his concert in CT.  I had just missed meeting him since I decided to go and get some stuff from the car but hopefully next time.  Here’s a quick snap shop of the article in the East Coast section of the regional news.  HEAL is an active participant in the CT Surfrider Foundation Chapter.

The Flinstone Flip by Flynn Novak. Backflip Landed Surfing.

OK, the past month or couple weeks really in action sports has been nuts.  History being made over and over and over again with new tricks blowing everyone’s minds.

Today we have the Flinstone Flip.  Flynn Novak will walk you through the 8 years of creating the first fullly landed backflip on a surf board.

Great Surfing During Hurricane Season in New England

As the hurricane season comes to an end, it makes me pause for a reflection on all the great days of surf that hit New England beaches.  If you were one of the many that rode to the coast for Hurricane Bill you were fortunate enough to see the ocean at it’s most impressive.

For those in the Newport, RI area there were the likes of Ian Walsh (big wave charger from North Shore Oahu) absolutely shredding top to bottom on Ruggles ragged cliffs. Followed up with Garrett McNamara dropping in on some Bombs out the back at Marines on a stand-up paddle board!  Whether a surfer or spectator it was a great day.

Hurricane Bill seem to set in motion a great season of Tropical Storm Danny, some early Nor’easters and a last dance of the season with Ida forming a nice Nor’ester when slipping into the Atlantic.

If you were a fortunate person with reliable transportation there was surf to be had in Cape Cod, Rye Rocks NH, and some friends of Heal even made it up to Maine.  So here’s to you Hurricane Season, it was good, it was fun, but now I gotta move onto the Winter Season and all it’s glory!!! Pray for Surf!
